Reggae Harmonica and the Growth Mindset

This new online course is currently in the development phase. It will apply the growth mindset approach to learning to play reggae music on the harmonica, while also exploring psychological insights and practices that help us learn new skills and make important changes in our lives. It will bring together music, psychology and change-making skills – but it isn’t quite ready yet.

A helpful saying of the growth mindset approach is ‘aim for progress rather than perfection’. So as steps towards this, we’re developing the ‘preparation phase’ of the course in two important ways.

  1. We’re having a free webinar on Thursday June 11th 2020 at 8pm UK time.

You can sign up at this link.

Then we’re having a free pilot version of the course with four live webinars, on the last Thursday of the month at 8pm UK time on 25th June, 30th July, 27th August and 24th September.

All the webinars are recorded, so they’re easy to watch if you can’t make the live event.

This pilot version of the course is accompanied by a companion online course featuring audio backing tracks to practice to, plus video tutorials and links to the recordings of the webinars after they’ve happened.

We have limited places available – and ask for the following if you’d like to take part:

  • you will need to get a Lee Oskar harmonica in the D natural minor scale. This harmonica is perfect for reggae – it makes playing it really easy and sounds fabulous.
  • in return for a free place, we ask that you be willing to take part in a short recorded video interview (over zoom or Skype) that can be used in a later version of the course. We’re wanting to be able to include videos of a range of people’s experience learning the reggae harmonica while applying the growth mindset and other useful tools we’ll look at.
  • if interested, please contact Chris Johnstone via our contact page.
